 1st Outlook ScoutsScout Newsletter    09-JAN-06

Happy New Year, Scouting Families!!!

Let’s start off by saying that next week, Monday January 23, 2006, is Investiture night.  Please have all youth at the Outlook Elementary School gym before 7:00 PM, in full uniform.  We will be having our Annual General Meeting immediately after Investiture.  The Venturers will be planning activities in the gym for the youth during the Annual General meeting.  Please plan to attend with your comments, ideas and suggestions.  Volunteers are always needed, elections will be held for Group Committee positions.

The Winter Outdoor Challenge is available for download from our website or the provincial website.  (addresses below)

Winter camp is scheduled at Camp Seeonee (Pike Lake) for the weekend of February 3, 4 & 5, 2006. We need some feedback from you as to when you want to go skiing.  The scouts have voted to go back to Table Mountain to ski, but we need to know when you want to go.  It has been discussed that we ski all day Saturday, stay overnight (I’m trying to arrange a hall for us to at stay overnight) and then drive back Sunday morning.  Please respond back to Larry or Sandy ASAP with suitable weekends in January or February (also if you’d like to stay overnight) so we can get this planned. Any other youth or adults who would like to come along are welcome, I’ll have costs for you when we know the dates for sure, last year the costs for lift tickets and equipment rentals were $26.00 for youth 7-15 years of age, and $31.00 for anyone over 16 years of age.

Other upcoming events are an overnight trip to the Lighthouse Recreation Centre at Zealandia, and our Annual Scout Family Supper.  We are also hoping to plan a hiking trip in to Grey Owls Cabin at Prince Albert National Park sometime this year.  Dates to follow once the Ski Trip date has been finalized.

Newsletters are handed out at meetings, but are also placed on the website for your convenience. Please feel free to check out our website, as well as the Saskatchewan Provincial site for upcoming activities and news.
