May 1, 2005

Dear Scouts and Parents:

This letter will serve as an outline of what we will be doing during the month of May.  On Mon., May 2, we will be having a regular meeting at the Legion Hall starting at 7:00 p.m.  Kendra Bray will be giving a talk on the Scout Service Corp. and we will be walking across the Trans-CanadaTrailBridge.

On Sat., May 7, we will be taking part in a Veteran's Day Ceremony in Rosetown followed by a overnight trip to the Lighthouse Recreation Centre.   We will meet at the D & E Convenience Store in Outlook at 12.15 pm that day. Scouts and Leaders should be in full uniform.  Scouts should bring a sleeping bag, pillow and overnight items.  They may also want to bring some money for snacks, etc.  We will be taking part in a special ceremony to honour veterans and the 60th anniversary of World War II ending in Europe.  It will also give the youth involved a better appreciation and understanding of the sacrifices made not only by war veterans' but our peacekeeping vets, reserve vets., etc. Veteran Affairs Canada has partnered with Scouts Canada nationally to pronounce this the "Year of the Veteran" and this is one of the big celebrations being held in the province this year.  Scouts will be involved in presenting special crests to the veterans and they will in turn present special pins to the scouts.  After the afternoons' activities, we will be eating supper in Rosetown.  The scouts will have their supper paid for as the result of our fundraising activities. After supper, we will be traveling to the Lighthouse Recreation Centre near Zealandia.  We will be staying overnight there.  The Rec. Centre has a skateboard track, roller blade track, games, etc. We will be having breakfast there Sunday morning as well as dinner before we leave.  We will arrive back in Outlook around 2:00 p.m. on Sun., May 8.

On Mon., May 9, we are invited to a Movie Night at the Reel Theatre in Outlook.  We're not sure of the title of the movie at this time but more details will follow on this.  The movie will be paid for by the scout organization and scouts are asked to support the theatre by purchasing their snacks there.

We will be having our regular scout meeting on Mon., May 16.  There will not be a regular meeting on Mon., May 23 due to the holiday.

We will also have a regular scout meeting on Mon., May 30.  This will be our last regular meeting of this scout year.

Spring camp for scouts will be held from Fri., June 3 to Sun., June 5 at EagleCreekRegionalPark near Perdue.  More details on this will follow at a later date.

If anyone has any questions about our May scout activities please contact one of the leaders.  Thank you.  Our scout May agenda can be viewed online at www.outlookscouts.com.
